Christmas Crackers Concert
1st December 2007 The band hosted a concert entitled "Christmas Crackers" at St Peter's Church in Staines. As a departure from the norm, we put on a 10 piece brass ensemble. This went down very well with both audience & performers alike. Playing as a smaller group is both enjoyable & valuable learning experience forcing all players to up their game & work together.
TV, Film & Theatre Concert 29th September 2007
Pieces included 'West Side Story', 'Pirates of the Caribbean', 'Dam Busters March', 'Hetty Wainthrope Investigates', 'Clog Dance' & 'Indiana Jones'. The programme was very popular with audience & band members alike. Due to the success, we hope to continue with themed concerts.

Pots & Pans In The Park 1st July 2007
We opened the afternoon marching through the park to a blazing rendition of Death or Glory, the well known March from the famous film 'Brassed Off'. There was a wide selection of instruments bought from home and picked from our instruments box. Band members each contributed a couple of homemade shakers made from jars, pots and water bottles filled with rice, chick peas, pasta and various other kitchen ingredients for those that did not have an instrument from home. We also spotted bongos, an oboe, tambourines, maracas and even some pot and pan lids with wooden spoons! The Children joined in at every opportunity banging, crashing, clapping and stamping along to the beat with excitement and vigour. One Parent had an 'unsuccessful' attempt at conducting the band, followed by fabulous try by a little girl, Rebecca, which rivalled our own Conductor Ian McElligott! Jason Pickin (Solo Cornet) and Richard Pemberton (Flugel Horn) showed off their musical talent with a skilful performance of Post Horn Galop. Performing on hosepipes, a funnel and a mouthpiece (you will just have to look at the photo gallery if an image of this is confusing you!) they produced a stunning duet. Without a doubt, more difficult than it looked. After an enjoyable afternoon of music we closed our programme with Teddy Bears Picnic and the theme from Star Wars. Band members really enjoyed putting on the concert and this was confirmed when a little girl approached the stand and asked, "Excuse me, why has all the music run out?" Fabulous! Marches & Melodies Concert 31st March 2007 A large audience of Band Aficionados and Civic Dignitaries took advantage of the excellent acoustics of the St. Peter’s Church when they were entertained by the Staines Brass Band on Saturday 31st March. The programme began with the customary march and continued with a selection pieces by various well-known brass band composers, classical pieces, jazz and film music all transposed or arranged to suit the brass genre. The first half was concluded with a performance by a brass quintet composed of students from the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, of a selection of well known pieces from film, the classics and the shows- arranged and transposed by the students. The second half commenced with a selection of classic compositions played by a wind quintet of students from Kneller Hall which, again had been arranged by one of the students themselves. The second half continued with the band playing a selection of well known favourites, finishing with a rousing rendition of Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No 1. It was a very enjoyable evening in excellent venue and we all look forward to the next concert by the Staines Brass Band.
With Regrets... March 2007 After much thought & consideration, it was decided that the band would not be able to compete at the Regional Finals. Since qualifying for the Nationals held at the Royal Albert Hall in 2006, there has been a significant change of personnel. The band is hoping to rebuild & focus for the meantime on performing concerts in the local area.
